Product managers:

  1. Are you in conversations which keep going in circles, where no one agrees on anything, and everyone deflects ownership?
  2. Does it often feel like your roadmap is dictated by the loudest voice or the highest designation in the room? Or do you find it challenging to come up with ideas that are both impactful and innovative?
  3. Do you say "yes" just to be friendly, polite, and respectful, even when you know you should be saying "no"?
  4. Do you struggle to create a clear picture of what career growth looks like for you? Do you feel lost about the steps you need to get there? And most importantly, do you find it challenging to measure career growth?
  5. Do you struggle to show your thought process, ideas, and successes to your manager and leaders?

If you answered yes to even one question, THIS IS FOR YOU!

You are not alone. More than 70% of product managers go through these challenges. In fact, I faced all of these challenges when I started as a product manager.

But the good news is that you can overcome these challenges with the proper knowledge, expertise, and tools. And that is the most important reason we created this course.

Before we dive into the course, let me share a brief story of why and how this course came into being.

I started my product management career about 10 years ago in India. And this was right after my MBA from ISB Hyderabad. At that point, product management was new, fancy, and glamorous. As a result, everyone wanted to do it, but no one knew how to. And I was one of "them."

At that time, I was excited, but I was lost. I had too many questions, but no way to find answers. I read articles online, devoured product management books, and asked seniors to help me find the "best" way of doing product management. Unfortunately, the outcome was disheartening — either I got no answers or the answers I got were from PMs who worked with big tech companies (like Google, FB, etc.) that have tens of thousands of engineers, complex and advanced technology, dedicated design and research teams, and much much more. Hence, those answers did not apply to my situation. I worked in a small startupish company with a few hundred engineers, no research team, and one designer for 10 PMs.

Over the next 2-3 years, I felt frustrated, disappointed, and sad. I enjoyed product management. I wanted to create products that had long-lasting global impact. But I knew I wasn't doing any of that.

Fast forward to today. I am a successful leader. I lead large teams of product managers who create global products used by millions of users. I develop strategies for entire business units with revenue targets of hundreds of millions. I have built zero to one products. I have taken products from 1 to N.

The million-dollar question — what helped me get from a struggling product manager to a thriving product leader?

The answer — the right mindset.

A mindset that helped me understand that product management is about solving the users' problems while making money for the business. The mindset helped me realise that frameworks sound good only when read about them in books and articles, but they fail when you apply them in real life.

The journey was challenging. I learned a lot, but everything I learned was the hard way — either by doing and failing or by pure luck.

I want to change that. I want to help every product manager learn product management the right way, and that is why I started JustAnotherPM about three years ago. Through 300+ conversations with product managers, I realised that most product managers don't understand the basics and the fundamentals essential for succeeding as a PM in today's competitive world.

And that is why we're creating this course — to help product managers obtain the knowledge, tools, and systems to excel and thrive as product managers.

In this course, we will enhance your understanding of the job. More importantly, we will talk about tens of practical problems that we face as PMs and then show you exactly how to tackle them like a pro.

The entire course is full of actionable advice. Tricks that have been tested in the real world. No theory. No fluff.

Let's dive into the course:

What you'll learn:

At the end of the course, we ensure that you will walk away with concrete learnings:

Clear understanding of what it takes to succeed as a PM.

We will focus on clearly laying out what product management means, what PMs must (and should) do to be successful, and what success means for you.

Learn the end-to-end process of creating world-class products.

We'll focus on the entire product lifecycle. The case study helps you understand the essential steps to scale an idea to a product with real-world impact. Along the way, we'll highlight the biggest mistakes PMs make that prevent them from creating world-class products.

Know real-world tactics to build trust, credibility, and influence.

Whatever you do as a PM, the most important thing is to influence and align other stakeholders (even the tough ones.) In the course, we share processes and systems to make you a master of communication and influence. Apply them correctly, and you will be able to convince the toughest stakeholder with ease.

Understand what it means to develop software and products.

Learn how to work with engineers and build systems that make software development impactful and effective.

Break through the noise of technical jargon around agile.

Agile is an effective (and easy) process to build products at scale. Every product manager should understand it. However, many PMs do not understand the essence of it. Instead, they get intimidated by technical terms and certifications. We will help you break through the noise and understand what you need to do to use agile and be effective with your technical teams.

Take control of your career, create a path and actually achieve it.

Measuring success for product managers is very tough and often subjective. As a result, neither the managers nor the PMs know the best career path and how to get there. We will help you break through these vague guidelines and success criteria. We will show you what YOU should do to propel your career.
